A Flagship Tree Growing, Aberdare Restoration & Water Security Initiative by Mazingira Sustainability Village (MSV)
Mazingira Sustainability Village (MSV) is implementing the Green Drive, a long-term, large-scale tree-growing and ecosystem restoration programme designed to increase tree cover, restore the Aberdare Catchment, strengthen water security, combat climate change, and create sustainable livelihoods for communities.
The programme is anchored on a simple principle: Save Green is Save Blue. The Aberdare ecosystem is a critical water tower and a major source of water feeding Ndakaini Dam, which plays a vital role in supplying water to Nairobi and its wider metropolitan population of more than 5 million people. Restoring and protecting the Aberdare Catchment is therefore an investment in the environmental and economic security of millions of people.
To achieve the scale of 1 million trees by 2027 and 50 million trees by 2032, MSV will establish a dedicated programme infrastructure.

The Green Drive is more than a tree-planting campaign. It is a landscape restoration and water security movement.
By combining forest conservation, community livelihoods, commercial tree growing, corporate investment, and measurable impact, MSV seeks to build one of Kenya's most ambitious community-led ecosystem restoration programmes.
